Mediarail partnered with an Atlanta interior design firm and was responsible for the creative direction and graphics for the museum. The concept was a timeline of Mark’s career so his fans could view his cars, trophies, and other memorabilia.
Mediarail received 42 cardboard boxes filled with photos, scrapbooks, and newspapers, including Mark’s racing diary. Based on Mark’s racing statistics, the first task was organizing the content chronologically. The next phase was culling the best content to represent milestones in Martin’s career.
The timeline concept was defined by the number and type of graphics needed and the required sizes. Murals would serve as a backdrop for each race car, along with kiosk displays. A reproduction of Mark’s race diary, and a 52-foot-long timeline mural added a unique touch.
The first step included producing high-resolution scans of the content. Some photos were decades old, discolored, scratched, and in some cases, damaged, needing restoration. All of the photographs were digitally cleaned and color corrected. The newspaper clippings required a specific type of scanning and correction due to the dot patterns in the newspaper photos.

Along with cars that include monitors to tell the story of their racing history, there are a variety of other racing mementos on site, including approximately 100 trophies and several of Martin’s racing helmets and fire suits, which are encased in glass and line the walls of the museum.

The fire suits put the sport in perspective, drawing attention to the fact that racers compete in a car that reaches speeds near 200 miles per hour with temperatures in the vehicle that can approach over 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Many photos and newspaper articles are also present, documenting Martin’s climb to NASCAR success.

Each year thousands of fans travel to Mark Martin Ford to tour the museum and attend in-person events featuring Mark and other fellow NASCAR drivers that bring awareness to the dealership.
“We could have put the museum anywhere,” stated Martin. “But I wanted to bring all of it home. It means a lot to me, and I’m excited to share what I’ve been lucky to experience in racing with everyone.”
