Building a better design.
How we develop creative solutions for you.
Thank you for considering Mediarail Design.
Whether you have purchased design services before or not, each design firm offers different levels of talent, experience, and pricing. They also vary in how they use the creative process and what they expect from you. The following will answer some common questions, in the hope that we will be a good fit for you, both professionally and personally.

Pricing
Like any service-oriented company, it is based on time. The time it takes to research, conceptualize and create your project. Our billable rate is set competitively below what others charge with the same level of talent and experience. The cost of your project is the estimated time it will take to complete it, plus any outside expenses (i.e., photography, copywriting, image licenses, etc...).

Projects can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on your needs and budget. We submit a detailed estimate for approval before starting any work, and adhere strictly to the estimate unless the scope of the project changes.

Beginning The Process
After being assigned a project we begin the information-gathering process with a series of interviews, questionnaires and worksheets. These help define your needs so a solution can be developed.
They cover such topics as the user features and benefits, marketing goals, and your competition. We will also determine the timeframe for your project, and who will be the final decision-maker. Any situations that effect the schedule or budget will be communicated to him/her in writing.

Building The Concepts
Great design comes from great ideas. True creativity doesn’t appear in an instant; it is the result of time, observation, and trial and error. It takes time to absorb the information, research different approaches, and develop a series of concepts. Depending on the complexity of the project, we typically submit one strong concept and one or two alternates. During that time, a timetable is set for final production and to coordinate any needed outside services.

When we make our first presentation, we explain the direction of each concept and ask for your input. The initial concepts are not finalized enough in the event that we need to adjust our direction. It’s important that you be as candid and specific as possible. The information you provide will directly effect the outcome of your project.

After the meeting, we use the feedback to create the final version, and incorporate any outside services to put the finishing touches on your project. This can take a few days to up to a week. At completion, another presentation is made.

Understanding the Value of Good Design
Good design does not cost money, it makes money. We ask that you trust our experience in developing a creative solution to your problem as we have for many others. Your valuable input in certainly needed, however we have a unique perspective of being able to see your product or service as your customer sees it. We are not emotionally or financially tied to your company.

For this reason, a creative solution based on the research of your industry, market and competition often times will not look like your original vision. Feeling the need to make significant changes to fit your preferences is normal, but we that you resist the urge as it that can be detrimental to the success of design.

We would never tell a mechanic how to fix our car, so we ask you to "buy in" to our vision for your product or service and to trust that we have your best interest at heart. We pour all of our talent and experience into developing a successful solution.

Putting It All Together
We recommend that the final layout be reviewed by the final decision-maker for any final artistic adjustments. However, one or two of your staff should view it for proof-reading and fact-checking only. Creative work is very subjective, and allowing too many to critique it creates a confusion of personal opinions, which can create additional cost.

A Strong Finish
Our goal is to create a solution that sets your product or service above and apart from the competition and ultimately motivates your market to respond positively.
